Shillong Lajong defeats A-League club Wellington Phoenix to win Super Series Cup

In a match destined to go down in Indian Football history, Shillong Lajong FC won a stupendous victory against A-League club Wellington Phoenix in the finals of the first ever North East Lajong Super Series Cup. Wellington had proved its excellent form in the series by effortlessly winning their initial matches against both United Sikkim as well as Shillong Lajong. All bets were on them to take the final match but the Lajong boys proved their mettle and drove the home fans wild as they defeated Wellington 3-2 to win the series.

The North East Lajong Super Series Cup was jointly organised by Shillong Lajong FC and JPR Events, in association with 3 State Associations- All Manipur Football Association, Assam Football Association and Meghalaya Football Association. Going forward, we hope it will be an annual fixture in the Indian Football calendar.
