Girls helping girls through soccer, friendship and service.

Goals for girls is an NGO which connects girls from different countries and backgrounds with their peers around the world to address social and health challenges through cultuDSC_0516ral exchange, service and soccer.

It is an international initiative of girls helping girls through soccer. The Goals for Girls experience opens the eyes of young women to the wide array of perspectives and challenges that exist outside their own small sphere and instill within them the knowledge that they have something powerful to offer the world.

Since 2007 Goals for Girls have used this unique platform to help disadvantaged girls across the globe by providing life skills education, all taught through the game of soccer.

Goals for Girls have campaigned across the globe in different countries like South Africa (2007,2010), Uganda (2009) , Tajikistan (2011) , Peru (2012) ands India (2014).

During the goals for girls international trips , an American based girls soccer team along with current or former professional women’s soccer player conduct soccer clinics, tournaments and exhibition games while simultaneously teaching life skills through soccer.

Cindy ParlowRecently the goals for girls committee visited India again in 2015 with Triangle United’s 98 Gold girls soccer team from Chapel Hill, NC . It was led by two time Olympic gold medalist and 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup winner Cindy Parlow Cone and retired professional soccer player Danielle Slaton .The summit invited 150 girls aged 9-18 from all over India.

The summit was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and was organized by Anglian Management Group.

There were various participant Indian organizations like Magic Bus, CEQUIN, Foot & Boot, United Women’s Football Club, AMMA F.C, Slum Soccer and Yuwa which participatedDSC_0578 bringing their own girls youth football teams which took part in tactical and technical sessions, mini tournaments and an exhibition game between the U.S girls team and women’s Delhi state team.

The leadership activities focused on empowering these young women and encouraging them to make healthy choices.

A number of media houses covered the goals for girls summit like Delhi Times, Hindu, Business Standard, India today , Times Now and IBN 7.

Goals for Girls will be back in 2017 in an even bigger avatar.
